Homemade is always special rite ?? ;) Here is my spicyyy special homemade chilly powder for you !!! Kuzhambu milagai podi (குழம்பு மிளகாய் பொடி) / Homemade chilly powder is a substitute for pure chilly powder & coriander powder that we use in our daily cooking.
Normally we used to prepare this in large amount, so that it can be used for months.I use this powder for almost every spicy dish i do.. and in lazy days i even use this as sides for idly & Dosa ( 2 tspn of homemade chilly powder + 3 crushed garlic cloves + salt + Sesame Oil ) Ahhh its mouthwatering when i think that combo .. " idly & Chilly powder with gingelly oil " :) :) Anyways lets jump into the procedure of preparing it :)
Ingredients
Dry Red Chilly - 1 kg
Dhaniya / Coriander seeds - 1 & 1/2 kg
Cumin seeds - 100 gm
Fennel seeds - 100 gm
Black Pepper - 100 gm
Channa dal / Kadala Paruppu - 100 gm
Curry leaves - 1 cup (optional )
Raw rice - 100 gm (optional )
Method
Unpack the Red chilly & Coriander Seeds .
Mix both & dry it in sunlight for 2 days.
Take a plate & unpack other ingredients in it .
Dry these in sunlight along with Red chilly & dhaniya .
Remove the dust in these well dried ingredients.

Grind it to a fine powder in a mill .
Let the powder cool completely & then store it in a air tight box.
