Quicky Tamarind Rice



This one is a life saver for lazy bugs like me.. you can make it in few minutes. There are different versions of making tamarind rice.. this one is the easy version.Will post the other versions soon.

Ingredients 

Tamarind - lemon sized.
For tempering :
Mustard - 1 tspn
Vendhayam - 1 tspn
Urad dhal- 1 tspn
Channa dhal - 1 tspn
Red dry chilli - 2
Hing / perungayam - 1 pinch
Curry leves - few
Tumeric powder - 1 tspn
Roasted ground nuts - few (optional)
Boiled Rice -2 cups

Steps 

Heat kadai , add 2 tbspn of gingelly oil (i prefer ) Or veg oil.

Do the tampering .. start with mustard and then add vendhayam, hing , dry red chilli , urad dhal, channa dhal,curry leaves, roasted ground nut..

Add the tamarind water ( make thick water consistency )

Add salt
Add tumeric powder.

Let this boil for few mins

When the gravy becomes thick enough for rice , switch off the stove.

Add the tamarind gravy little by little to the rice and mix it. (Check salt and add while mixing if needed )

If you are a pepper lover .. then u can add 1 tspn pepper powder to the rice while mixing.

Note : gravy should be added little by little .. do not use the entire gravy for small amount of rice.
It may result in Too much of sourness to the rice.
