Ingredients -
Mango : 2 mango / as per your taste.
Chopped Onion : 2 medium
Chopped Tomato : 2 medium
Sambar Dal / Tuvar Dal : 1 cup
Sambar powder : 2 tsp
Curry leaves : few
Chilly Powder : 1 & half tbsp
Turmeric Powder : 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida : 1/4 tsp
Garlic : 4 pieces
Red chilly : 2 (just for seasoning at last)
Tamarind : Lemon Size ( extract juice in 1 cup of water)
Salt as per taste.
Method :
1. Pressure Cook Dal in 2 cups of water with garlic pieces , turmeric powder and asafoetida .
2. Once Cooked, mash it with some water & keep aside
3. Heat Pan with 2 tbsp of oil , Drop onion and fry it till onion turns light brown.
4. Drop Tomato and cook it for 2 mins.
5. Now pour our cooked dal into pan.
6. Mix it well and after one min add Tamarind water.
7. Add Salt, Chilli Powder, Sambar powder
8. Let it cook for few mins.
9.Add mango pieces 7-10 mins before you off the stove else over cooked mango will get dissolved as paste in sambar. ha ha ;)
10. After all the above steps. Do the seasoning.
11. Heat pan with 1 spn of oil , Drop mustard 1 spn, urad dal 1 spn (optional) ,curry leaves and red chilly.
12. Drop this in our tasty mango sambar :)
13. Goes well with Karunakilangu fry / chettinad fish fry / pepper chicken.
